Our first show was performed live from the studios of PBS station WPBT in Miami.
We did our first show as part of the Pledge Drive at Miami Channel 2. We did three hours of cooking -- unrehearsed and unscripted!
This is the first step in our plan to create a one-hour cooking show that will be produced at WPBT and run nationally on public television.
Unlike the pilot, our new show will not only feature us cooking some great Cuban dishes, it will also show us traveling to some of our favorite Miami locations. We also will reveal all of our secrets including the best places to go in Miami: the best restaurants, shopping, entertainment, music, fun, and other attractions.
We'll show you how you can experience Cuban culture with our humorous and lively guide to the Cuban side of Miami.
Although this is a pilot project, it's not too early to start asking your local PBS Television station to carry our new show. To make our show a reality, we need to line up stations and sponsors! If you love our website and want to see more of us, please help.

We have also made the Daily Top Ten Cookbooks several times this month. Spread the word -- we need more sales to keep the ball rolling (and help us pay some bills.)

It took us all three days, but we were able to sell every copy of Three Guys From Miami Cook Cuban that was available at the show. We did a lot of book signing that weekend.
We also enjoyed meeting many of the store owners and product vendors that we have gotten to know so well by email. We also made several new acquaintances and got to visit with Val Prieto of the Babalu Blog.
The food was very good this year. We especially liked the yuca rellena and the pan con lechón was tender and juicy -- it just could have used a splash or two of mojo to make it perfect.

"Three Guys From Miami Cook Cuban" is on the list!
According to the company's press release, "Books on this year's list transport readers to the four corners of the earth -- thrilling suspense from Alfred Hitchcock's trans-Atlantic adventures, aerial photographs of Africa's stunning beauty, delectable Cuban recipes, and the inspiring story of a young Chinese girl struggling to gain an education in today's world.
"Private Bank advisors around the world scoured the literary universe to develop this year's eclectic list.
"From the nearly 300 works of non-fiction considered, the global review committee selected 10 winners, based on the quality of their content, the timeliness of their appeal and the insights of their authors."
Other books on this year's list include a management book for family businesses, a biography of art dealer Joseph Duveen, and a historical look at the real roots of New York City.
We have to admit that we don't have any firsthand knowledge of JP Morgan Private Bank, although (and probably BECAUSE) Hoover's Online indicates that to open an account, you need a minimum deposit of $25 million.
That's right, 25 MILLION dollars! Our advice to The Donald: guys can and do cook. Sure buy the book, but don't expect your wife Melania to Cook Cuban for you. Get in the kitchen and take charge. Afterall, cooking can be very relaxing and you look like a guy who needs to SLOW down!
Best of all, when you get done cooking up a batch of tostones, you can look at them and with your trademarked phrase say, "YOU'RE FRIED!"

The writing in this book is excellent. Her chronicle of the exodus from Mariel was of particular interest to Jorge, as he shares some of the same memories. This book gets THREE THUMBS UP -- the ultimate Three Guys From Miami seal of approval!

For Miami, the show's producers wanted to feature tamales, and somehow they thought of us. (Maybe the giant tamal on the cover of our book had something to do with it?)
Jorge and Glenn spent most of the day with the show's host Mark DeCarlo, although the first half of our segment features Jorge showing Mark around Little Havana. Stops included a fruit and vegetable market and a Little Havana cigar maker, an opportunity for Mark to indulge one of his passions.
Jorge also brought Mark to the Palace of Juices near Raúl's house in Westchester. Just when it looks like it's becoming the "Mark and Jorge Show," the two arrive at Jorge's house where Raúl and Glenn show Mark how to make Cuban tamales. We had a lot of fun in the kitchen and we even had a tamal stuffing and wrapping contest.

However, who could resist these cute dolls that sing classic Cuban children's songs. It's like having your own Cuban abuela or abuelo.
Songs include such favorites as "Arroz con Leche," and "Los Pollitos Dicen," songs that were typically sung to children by parents and grandparents in Cuba.
If you know any Latin kids or would just like to give your favorite Anglo kid a great multicultural experience, order one now for birthdays or Christmas. Jorge has one on his Christmas wish list!
