Raúl is Retiring!
After way too many years managing the service department at the Red Bird Amoco (now the Red Bird Citgo), Raúl Musibay has announced his official retirement.

For the past 12 years, Raúl has led a double life. By day, he is a station manager, but at night, he becomes one of the Three Guys From Miami.

A native Cuban, Raúl came to the United States via Spain in 1980. As a full-time Miami resident, Raúl is known for his love of fishing, his great parties, and his mastery of the Cuban pig roast.

Retirement should give Raúl plenty of time to do the things he likes best. We suspect Raúl will spend a lot more time fishing!

Good Luck Raúl!

“Three Guys From Miami Cook Cuban” is our first book. It contains many classic Miami Cuban recipes and favorite dishes.

Recipes range from simple, country-style fare, to more elaborate dishes that are suitable for entertaining. Although we have added our own twists over the years, our recipes are rooted in the classic dishes of Cuba. You won't find any "Nuevo Latino" or Pan-Latin recipes here!

Wherever possible we have made these dishes simple to prepare. You don't need to be a professional chef to create any of the recipes in this book.

You also won't find a lot of esoteric, hard to find, or expensive ingredients such as truffle shavings, couscous, arugula, or anything in aspic!

“Three Guys From Miami Celebrate Cuban” is our latest book. Again, you’ll find many classic Miami Cuban recipes, this time with an emphasis on dishes that are great for parties. Although built around a Cuban party theme, "Three Guys From Miami Celebrate Cuban" is NOT just a party book!

The recipes are just as easy to make for everyday eating. In fact, most of the recipes in our new book are simple and easy to prepare so you can make some great lunches and dinners at home.

So even if you're not in a party mood, you can treat yourself and your family to a delicious meal.

So which book is right for you? There is only one way to go -- buy both! In these two volumes you will have a great compendium of classic Cuban food recipes. We give you everything you need to start cooking some great Cuban dishes for your family and friends.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden Hosts 16th Annual

Mango Festival!

This year’s event is no exception with cooking demonstrations, mango tree sales, mango fruit sales and “Mangoville,” where you’ll find mango related products and art.

The Fairchild Tropical Gardens allows visitors to experience in just one location the entire spectrum of plants and trees that are typical to the average Miami backyard, including many exotic and rare specimens.

The Gardens first opened to the public in 1938. Robert H. Montgomery created the Gardens and named them in honor of his friend David Fairchild, a world-renowned botanist.

Every backyard fruit grower in Miami owes a debt of gratitude to Fairchild. He is credited with bringing the mango to cultivation in the United States.

One of the highlights of the collection is the 100 rare native plant species from South Florida and the Caribbean.

The Fairchild Gardens cover 83 acres of land and is located just off the Old Cutler Road in Coral Gables.

Happier Times in Cuba
Bauta, Cuba in 1979. A lazy Saturday afternoon with an old push reel mower. Even though times were tough, people still took pride in their homes and yards. (L-R) Esther Musibay, Jorge Castillo, and Onix (Musibay) Sanchez.
Nephew Neil is Getting Married!
We didn't think it would ever happen, but our nephew Neil Ruiz is getting married to the lovely Angie Lascano some time in the very near future!
You might wonder why, in a city that is just overflowing with mangos in the summer, would anybody pay to go see MORE mangos?

The International Mango Festival features many different varieties of mangos, many unusual and some exotic. Many people come just to try the different varieties, participate in a mango auction, and sample mango cuisine at a mango brunch.

El Rápido
This painting represents the dual culture of Cuban-Americans here symbolized by both the traditional espresso coffee pot -- for those cafe con leches -- and the ubiquitous American drip coffee maker, which is found in offices, work sites, and most American homes.

Tony has sold many of these at art shows around Florida. It is especially popular with Cuban-Americans who live this dual culture. Also a great gift for Cubans married to Americans!
