It's Off to the Printer!

Don't hold your breath -- but our new book, "Three Guys From Miami Celebrate Cuban" is on the way..

Our new Miami Cuban cookbook has made it through production and editing and is on its way to the printer. With a little luck and good weather, the book should hit the stores in September -- or a little sooner!

From the dust jacket:

The Three Guys From Miami are back once again to celebrate the joy of cooking great Cuban food. In this companion to their immensely popular first book, "Three Guys from Miami Cook Cuban," the Guys have created a fun and entertaining guide that will keep you cooking and laughing in the kitchen for years to come.

The Guys make cooking fun with recipes for delectable desserts, amazing appetizers, savory soups, scintillating side dishes, great grill recipes, and some main dishes that will literally knock your socks off. (Quite literally! In fact, we recommend that you run out right now and buy some extra socks!)

For the past year, Manny's Grill has wowed the locals in Queens, New York with some great Cuban food served seven days a week! Owner Manuel Vazquez was born in New York to a Cuban mother and a Spanish father. His restaurant features a dozen classic Cuban dishes with a few Spanish twists.

The restaurant features great food and low prices -- what's becoming a rare commodity these days, especially in the New York area.

The appetizers include chicharrones de pollo, garlic infused chicken pieces that are fried crispy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside. Vazquez also makes a pastel de Mami that is basically the Cuba Oriente version of a tamal, made with mashed plantain instead of corn meal.

Mojo dipping sauce is on the table in two versions, one standard version and one with a little bit of a kick.

The restaurant serves a great churrasco steak, done to order, and very flavorful. The lechón is another popular item, a pork leg marinated in mojo and roasted until it is tender and quite literally falling off of the bone. The pollo al carbon is a half chicken, doused with garlic and mojo and slow roasted until very tender.

All of the main dishes come with the typical choice of two sides -- even arroz con gandules, a traditional Puerto Rican dish.
