Masitas de Puerco Fritas are fried pork chunks. They are slow cooked until very tender, then lightly fried in their own oil.

These are great with a little mojo sauce and sliced onions.

You might also see these as "carnitas" in some Latin markets, especially Mexican ones.

A Miami family has created "El Guajiro Domino Tables" -- a company that specializes in handcrafted wooden domino tables with Cuban themes.

“Our domino tables are good for both playing dominos and display purposes,” says Carlos ‘El Guajiro’ Arocha. “They are easy to set up for a game of dominos and when not in use, set them against the wall or hang them up for a great Cuban decoration.”

The game of dominoes is the national game of Cuba. For many, the game is a daily social event that combines competition with camaraderie.

"You frequently see people playing games in parks and other public areas," says Raúl Musibay.

In the United States this tradition is kept alive at Maximo Gomez Domino Park on Calle Ocho in Miami.

Playing the game at home is more enjoyable if you have a table that is specially made for dominos.

All eyes are on this beautiful table, handmade from wood with a laquer finish.
"El Guajiro makes a great table, and let me tell you it is beautiful," Musibay adds. "It's easy to set up and the trays that hold the fichas are solidly built."

Each El Guajiro table has metal folding legs that allow ample leg room for the players. The legs are easily folded up for storage or display.

Photographer/web designer/hair stylist Artie Ayala has started a Cuban website called Cubanazos.com.

The site specializes in Cuban news, current affairs, information on Cuban art and music, and plenty of political discussion.

“We all refer to someone who is a real Cuban as a ‘Cubanazo’ – one who is family oriented, drinks mojitos, smokes cigars, drinks cafecito and dreams of the day that the homeland can be revisited,” says Ayala.

Ayala’s new site started in June has already gained a great deal of popularity on the web.

Omar Fernandez
Ayala was soon joined in his efforts by Omar Fernandez. Although it’s hard for us to imagine Omar with anything but a fish in his hand, we have to remind ourselves that he has a real job in the real world. Omar is an aircraft rescue fire fighter at Key West International Airport.

Omar has also turned in some great performances at the microphone. As an offshoot of the Cubanazos site, he hosts a weekly show on Blog Talk Radio.

Recent topics on the show have included a Coast Guard attack on a refuge boat that resulted in the death of a Cuban woman and Omar’s campaign to get Ebay to ban the sale of Che Guevara merchandise.

Catch the show each Sunday at 8:00 p.m. ET. Listen live or check out past shows here: blogtalkradio.com/cubanazos.
